The 'IT' Blouse

Good evening! This is my first blog post after returning from beautiful Milan, which was such a wonderful and stunning city to visit. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, I have long wished to visit the stunning Italian city, and see for myself its aura and charm which is the home of many top fashion houses: from Prada, to Valentino, to Dolce & Gabbana, to Versace. After returning from my short break there, I can easily say that it did not disappoint!


My trip to Milan was a family holiday, and so although I was essentially visiting tourist spots and discovering the city, I spent a lot of time thinking of some smart outfits to wear for the next few blog posts! I've titled today's post 'The IT blouse', as I thought: what better way to begin my exploration of the city than wearing my favourite piece from Archive by Alexa? The Harry Blouse, as it is officially titled, has most certainly been the most popular piece from Alexa Chung's collaboration with M&S (http://fayeisabella.co.uk/2016/04/archive-by-alexa.html), which is not entirely surprising. With it's chic and stylish Victorian cut, the blouse serves as both a smart and classy piece to wear in the day, or a dressy shirt to suit a tailored and suited look in the evening.

I purchased the white Harry Blouse as I knew it would suit practically any item of clothing. Though for my first day in Milan, I decided to keep my look entirely monochrome, pairing it with simple black cigarette trousers. Many people might believe the look to be too dressy for the day, but when you're in one of the fashion capitals of the world, I don't believe it matters! However, I did decide to tone down the dressiness of the outfit with some Miu-Miu inspired sneakers, and added a bohemian hat to compliment the beautiful weather!

Throughout the day, my parents & I enjoyed visiting some of Milan's central tourist attractions, most notably the Duomo Cathedral, which was architecturally stunning inside, and posed a mesmeric panoramic view of Milan from it's authentically gothic roof. As major coffee lovers, we couldn't help but stop for coffee in Milan's iconic Gucci Café, situated in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. It was certainly a glamorous experience; I can now say that I've ate Gucci cake and drank Gucci coffee! I think that the best way to capture a true sense of a city is simply to walk around it, and so we did exactly that. By not using transport at all throughout the holiday, I was able to fully appreciate why Milan is defined as such a stylish city.
